Methods of legalization in Poland in 2024

You can legalize your stay in Poland on various grounds, depending on your personal circumstances.
The most popular ways are to obtain a temporary residence permit (karta czasowego pobytu) based on:
- study,
- work,
- conducting business activities.
A student (of a school, including a Szkoła Policealna, a lyceum) and a student of a higher educational institution can apply for a residence card for studies.
It must be remembered that the period of stay of university students in Poland is divided by 2 for subsequent calculation on the EU resident card.
A residence card for a Szkoła Policealna student is issued for the duration of their studies. After completing your studies, you no longer need to obtain a work permit.
Among the additional documents submitted to the usual package for a residence card, in this case you need to attach a training agreement, confirmation of payment (if any), as well as legitimation.
You can apply for a work life card from the first day of employment.
In this case, you must have official employment with a salary not lower than the minimum wage in Poland.
Among the specific documents submitted with the application, we can note the contract, Załącznik 1, work permit and statement of the headman (if necessary in your case), as well as insurance.
If you have registered business or are the founder of spółki z o.o., you can apply for a temporary residence card based on business activity.
To do this, you need to write a sound business plan (if you are just starting out), or employ two Poles (holders of Pole cards), or provide yourself with an income of at least 12 times the average monthly salary in the voivodeship.
